Dr. Christele Semaille, D.C.
It’s no secret that the American diet is terrible; fast food, gobs of sugar in everything, and little regard for being healthy, so long as we’re not hungry for the moment. Clearly things like obesity, heart disease, and diabetes have been linked to diet, but would you believe that many more health problems can be contributed to what we eat? Some people will ask how foods could possibly cause things like headaches, fatigue, or menstrual cramps. Remember the old saying “you are what you eat”? This may be truer than any of us realize.
Every single thing we put into our bodies is digested, which most people understand at least in the sense of stomach and intestines. So what does the body uptake and keep? Vitamins are obviously kept, but what about harmful things that can’t be flushed out as fast as we would like? Everyone knows that alcohol can attack the liver, but can other refined sugars have similar effects in excess? Could an upset stomach or fatigue be caused by an allergy to something as simple and common as wheat? In our instant gratification society, it’s hard to look past the quick (and temporary) solutions to see what could be the cause of the problem in the first place and learn how to prevent it.
For those of us interested in treating the cause of the problem, not just covering up the symptoms with medication and a band-aid solution, there is Dr. Christele Semaille, D.C. Her style of healing is what she refers to as “wholistic kinesiology.” (Yes, the w is there on purpose, it’s no typo.) By using this muscle testing, Dr. Semaille can identify many different issues with the body and mind. Her style of healing focuses on analyzing the imbalances in the body and learning to rebalance them with herbs and good food choices. Many problems are caused by hormonal imbalances that can be corrected by removing the agitator or adding something to a diet that has been missing.
Originally from France, Dr. Semaille knew from the age of six that she wanted to help heal people. She set her mind on becoming a doctor. “I knew rapidly I did not want to be medical doctor,” Semaille says, “I did not want to give people drugs.” Her focus has always been on using herbs and foods to heal and prevent disease.
A large part of her practice is educating people on ways to stay healthy. “Eat what Mother Earth gives you, the way she gives it to you,” Dr. Semaille says, “And create happiness for yourself.” She is a firm believer in the power of thought. “Live in happiness,” she says, however difficult it may be for some of us. Those who think very negatively about life tend to attract negative things, including the possibility of illness. “I help people on the emotional component of the problem.” It has been proven that depression and stress can have a physical influence on the body, so why not positive emotions as well?
Dr. Semaille’s business card states that she handles “nutritional counseling, hormonal imbalances, menopause, weight loss, chromic illness, colds/flu/infections, diabetes, digestive problems, and more.” Because every person is different, every treatment is custom tailored to the needs of the individual. In practice since 1995, she has a long line of satisfied customers who would recommend her services.
On the wall of the examination room is a framed Thomas Edison quote, written in calligraphy. "The doctor of the future will give no medicine, but will interest his patients in the care of the human frame, in diet, and in the cause and prevention of disease." It is an excellent way to summarize exactly what Dr. Semaille does.
